On Chernarus and Livonia, every weapon and piece of clothing now rolls a rarity. Higher tiers come with bonuses that make that item better than a standard one, so even a gun you've looted a hundred times can still be worth picking up. Gear rarity tiers are our own mod, built by the Is Dead team.
The six tiers
- CommonStandard issue. Exactly like vanilla.
- UncommonA slight edge.
- RareNoticeably better.
- EpicSeriously strong.
- LegendaryElite grade. Weapons can roll Ammo Refund.
- MythicThe best of the best. Weapons only, can roll Ammo Refund.
Clothing and armor go up to Legendary. Mythic is for weapons only.
What the bonuses do
- Weapons: less recoil, less sway, and less durability loss, so the gun stays on target and lasts longer.
- Ammo Refund: Legendary and Mythic weapons can also roll this. Each shot has a small chance to put the round back in the mag, which means a free bullet.
- Clothing and armor: less durability loss, so your gear holds up longer.
Every drop rolls its own stats
Bonuses are random rolls, not fixed values. Two Rare rifles of the same model won't be identical, and higher tiers roll bigger bonuses. Hover over any weapon or piece of clothing to see its rarity and exactly what it rolled in the tooltip.
Your existing gear
Everything you had before rarity went live shows as Common, including what's in your barrels and vehicles. Common means exactly the same as before: nothing was taken away or changed.
Finding better gear
Rarity rolls when new loot spawns, so higher tiers start turning up as the loot economy refreshes zones. Every fresh weapon or jacket is a new chance at a better roll, which gives you a reason to keep running content even once you're geared.
